Its been a while since anyone was active on this thread. Ima going to go out on a limb a guess that Captain Chaos is still alive and still has these speakers. I worked for a retail store (back in the early 80's) that was owned by one of the founding owners of Norman Labs. He had sold his share by the time the 16's came out. I was familiar with the 7, 8, 9,10, and 11's. The last couple of years I've gotten back into the hobby (and hopefully a retirement job) of refurbing 70's and 80's vintage stereo equipment, and I'm always looking to buy (if the price is right). I can't remember if it's on this site or another blog where Jim Long (one of the company founders) gave a short history lesson of the company. I remember all the folks he spoke about.

Well since a new member asked about the 16s and I stole capt, chaos's pics, for my files, I thought I would search AK to see if those pics were here and well that brought me back to this thread. I have not seen pics of Dave's shop before, just some old cellphone (crappy) pics of some gear he had for sale. It looks a lot less crowded than I'm told it is by my friend that lives in BA. But it is full and he probably needs to downsize as he is probably getting close to calling it a career.

Norman Labs speakers was a small Oklahoma business that produced a great line of speakers back in the 70's~80's. I would love to have a pair of Model 12's.

I just picked up four Norman Labs model 48 II in great original shape. Perfect foam, almost no dings, sound great all of
em at the same time, about 12x18 in a room larger. Surprising good for a woofer cone of ... about4 5/8", with John Mayer vocals coming through really nicely. The build quality is as expected from the bit I've been able to read about the company. But I can find nothing on the model 48, not to mention the 48 II. I didn't want to break the seal on any of the woofers to pull them, but a tweeter had already popped the seal of its mount to the wood. Pics follow, any help greatly appreciated.
