I live in Vicksburg, MS
I live in Dallas, TX
I live in Seattle, WA
I live in Berlin, NH

What exactly have I told you? I have told you absolutely NOTHING, except that I reside in one of these cities. For the life of me, I don't understand why people are so paranoid. If someone on here wants to break into my house and steal my stuff, fine... come find me in Vicksburg. It's a SMALL town of about 9000 people. How many houses can there be? :eek:

The important thing is, that there may be other AK members around, close by, with whom you can network and exchange ideas. That is why is it valuable to include where you live.

But you have no respect for people that dont choose to give out their location? If they want help, they can give out where they live when asking for help. You think people are paranoid but actually you really have no idea why people choose not to give out their location...... you seriously have nothing else to worry about?

I most certainly did not say that I have "no respect". I would appreciate it if you did not illogically infer things from what I said. I said there is paranoia going around (the false notion that not posting your location in a forum like this increases your security) It is up to you if you want to post your location or not. Who is stopping you from NOT posting it?

No, I have absolutely NOTHING to worry about by telling you, or anyone else, that I live in Vicksburg. Worry about what? That some random stalker is going to roam the streets of this little town looking for me? Or that someone steals my beloved stereo that I have spent years putting together after going from house to house peeking into the windows? I doubt it very much. What I do hope, if I am fortunate, is that an AK member that lives close by would help me through deeds and advise when I need it. I will do the same for others when I can. ;):music:

I thought that's what this forum was for...

I'll also remind you that I'm not worried about people finding out where I live, or being broken into. Unlike others here, I don't feel the need to own big, dangerous dogs, or arm myself with firearms (here's a clue: where I live, shooting burglars is strictly frowned upon...). I've chased burglars from the house twice.

I have plenty of 'real friends'.
I don't wet my pants if someone speaks to me.
I look people in the eye when I speak to them.
I don't have anything to hide.
I'm not foolish.
I'm not a troll.

I simply don't see that my location is relevant to my profile. My posts give plenty of clues about where I live, if you're really that interested.

FWIW: I couldn't care less where you live.

BTW: I actually had an encounter with a burglar. I removed his pistol from his possession and shot him with it. The cops laughed at him. I subsequently spent time going to court as a witness for the prosecution. Yes, he was convicted.

No. That name dates back to an incident on the first forum I posted on, 19 years ago (and the name for a colleague before that). It's a long story. But it's been a consistent e-persona since then.

As I said, I'm not worried. Somebody paranoid would be worried.

Anyone care to throw more insults?

Moderation Note: This thread has passed the same spot in the bowl enough times now. 13 pages of this wonderful stuff is quite enough.

Bottom line: No one is required to make any personal information public, unless they desire to do so. The rationale for revealing, or withholding, said personal information shall also remain private, unless its revelation is desired by the member.
