I just recieved a pair of HPM-900's and an SA-6500II from my girlfriend's grandfather. The reciever works great, but the woofers have seen better days. The surrounds are rotted out and the cones themselves are cracked all over. What should I do? I am ready to boot these puny Realistic speakers and move up, but don't know how much money it costs or where to send these woofers for repair, or even if someone will repair them! Any help would be appreciated!

I thought that the SA-6500II is an amp not a receiver. So what do you mean it works great? :scratch2:

Click on one of the links (logos) at the bottom of the page. There are excellent speaker repair people there.

THe sa-6500II is in fact a reciever. Thanks for the offer Doc, but I want to keep them. They seem like an amazing set of speakers from what I read about them. I may choose to use my Hafler amp and preamp though. Not sure on that one yet. I haven't really given the comparison.

Well, then you are dealing with Pioneer that exists in an alternate universe. See the photo below from Pioneer.

I apologize. Like I said...Novice! It is an INTEGRATED AMPLIFIER. Either way, it does not solve my problem with the HPM900's. I have been on the phone all day with companies and nobody will touch them. I just need some woofers! Are there any replacements or does anyone have a set tucked in their closet?

Reread my post above. They can be reconed....it has been done right here by GordonW.

User GordonW comes to mind, he's in Atlanta ,Ga. Audio Atlanta, I believe, check the classified section, he always toys in there. give him a call.

Yes, check with GordonW--he has reconed some HPM-900, using paper cones. According to GordonW, IIRC, the results were very good. If you can find proper OEM graphite modulus cones, go for them. The cones are superb sounding, but are fragile. Someone probably played them without surrounds. I have a pair of HPM-900 and they are smoother and more accurate than the very popular older HPM-100. Even with the vinyl wrap cabinet the 900 weighs about 4 lbs more than the 100.
