This is tragedy! My favourite thread of all has been locked down!

And from what I can see, nothing happened last night! But then again, I did click on ignore to one character that seemed intent on getting the thread locked up. Over 3,000,000 views on this thread.

I'm hoping there is some other way to do it rather than lock it down?

And hoping this just might be a warning to us users to be more civil.

That thread was getting way off track. I don't usually post scores but I did post my most recent just to try and get it back on track.

Thrift store bashing is verboten.
 
Almost 14 years and 1075 pages - it had a surprisingly long and good life. I think that 60 Cycle Hum hit the nail on the head.
 
I am also hoping it can be revived. I found it to be encouraging when I was in a dry spell and reminded me that good stuff was still out there to find. After all those years and posts it would a shame to put a permanent stop to it.

I used the ignore feature for the second time on Thursday. It worked great!

There was one fellow who seemed intent on getting it locked up, and I would hate for him to have the satisfaction of succeeding.

Yes, I would read through that thread and be all motivated for my next great find. And by coincidence, on Wednesday, I did! A Sansui AU-D9!
 
Yes it seemed that way to me as well. I attempt to confine my contributions to that thread about the gear and the hunt for it as many do. Others have allowed their comments to digress to the merits of the thrifts and how they are operated..
 
Sometimes snowflakes get strange, but the exhibited trolling and bigotry were quite pronounced.

While I dived in re the thrifts, it was to point out that they benefit all. I'm happily sitting here organizing the 85 cds I picked up yesterday at SalArmy and Gwill.

Are you kidding me? I didn't see anything lockworthy. I was getting a little off track but it would have self corrected like it did before. Unless there was something I didn't see.
 
Yeah, I was about to recommend completely ignoring that person, he wouldn't stop looking for arguments. I can't see anything that happened that was too outrageous, just one guy going off on everything, not lock worthy in my opinion.

Alls I gots to say is I'm gonna keep posting my scores whether it be there or in a new thread we start :cool:. Maybe it can be a general score thread that includes thrifts, garage sales, and dumpster dives/trash picks. I expect to see you all there :beerchug:. Long live the Scroe!!!!!
 
I'll ask the other moderators. Meanwhile, please keep in mind that (a) public discussion of moderation is not allowed, and (b) members who are not moderators can't see what might have been deleted.
 
I'm a mod on other forums, the names of which I won't mention here. In my experience, if a thread needs a lot of cleaning up, it's often locked to prevent quoted replies during the cleanup.

I'd hazard a guess that 90% of active threads that end up permanently locked or deleted are those that don't follow the "Don't feed the trolls" etiquette. Report, report, report but never respond.

I never EVER had that as my intent and you know it. I was voicing my opinion, that thrift finds aren't anywhere near as common or good in my area, and everyone jumped down my throat where I was being honest and truthful. I was simply trying to defend my statements, but you especially for some reason seem particularly intent on twisting that into "that guy was trying to get that thread locked down." In NO way was that my fault- it was YOU people who were saying either I wasn't trying hard enough, or I was only in it for the money- and insulting me thinking you know me when you don't. If you had just shut up and let my opinion go without trying to be a holier than thou asshole everything would be fine now.

Now you're going to say the same thing about this thread too, when you started it yet again. Learn that when you don't accept someone else's opinions as anytihng other than that, it's pertty much YOUR fault.

Guess I spoke too soon on the thread turning around and not devolving into stupid keyboard fighting like the rest of the internet. If you have nothing to contribute to this forum other than the continuation of bickering over perceived wrongs and finding someone to blame, then shoo fly. There are plenty of outlets for this stuff, just go over to facebook and air it out. Just let this die, there is no substance in this argument.
