Some poor unsuspecting will cry when he or she gets them. Original drivers in walshes are at the end of their lifespan and are costly to replace. Ain't worth the current bid imho

I'm a walsh 4 owner myself. I unsuspectingly bought them not knowing they were at the end of their lifespan. I didn't expect to put another $1,000 into a pair of older speakers. And I had to take that money from the bank; thank you. Used original walshes need to be upgraded as Strohbeen and co will very cordially tell you. An extra $1,000 or so needs to be taken into consideration in my household. Glad to hear you're happy with your walshes Retro. I'm less than thrilled with mine.

The Walsh 3's have a clothe surround and are not at the end of thier life.

Retro; I know I'm getting off the subject title but I'm shocked to hear your 4's beat out those other speakers you mentioned. Mine easily got drilled a pair of hpm 100's and now sit pretty much unused. Think a call to ohm is in order and see what's up. Being that walsh use unconventional drivers they don't get foam rot the way other speaks do. You can't visually inspect them since ohm doesn't want us inside the cans. When my original drivers went smoke poured out of one side and I lost the most of the lows but the highs were still there. And that was driving them conservatively. Hmmm maybe I have a nice pair of speaks just waiting to have ohm switch a wire that's out of phase or something. Everyone raves about their 4's I'd love to do the same.

Yep, if I had to guess, I'd say there was something wrong with your 4's? I believe Jimbecky mentioned a while back to you, "if you weren't happy with the rebuild, you could send them back until they got it right." I guess if I was as unhappy with them as you are, I'd have sent them back already, and if that didn't cure the issues, I'd have sold them and moved on. At least that way, you would have recouped something out of them and used it on a pair YOU might enjoy more. Send them back, see if something's amiss, as it stands now, you don't have anything to lose. Good luck.
