You buy a 30 odd year old turntable that is bit working and that means all that brand are the same as you watch a YouTube vid seriously!!

Now that is not what I said, is it? Don't go adding your own agenda and making out its mine, I said I bought a turntable that had a fault that appears to be common to that model and as such, I returned it and will not be buying another.
That is my opinion and you have yours, you also seem to have ignored the positive comments I made about the other Technics equipment I have,
Apart from my 2 Rega TTs every piece of vintage equipment I have is in excess of 30yrs old and works fine.
I joined AK to talk to like-minded people and ask their advice, we don't all agree with each other but that is fine as that is what debating is about and on the whole, I find this site is a gold mine of friendly people and useful information and you have been the exception but then there is always one isn't there .
I have said all I am going to say on this subject and will post no more comments on it, only to say Thank you to everyone for your help and to let you know how pleased I am to read your posts and see your fantastic systems ( even the Technics ones) .

You come to AK going on about how Technics are unreliable based on the fact you bought a faulty 30 year old one and further based that you found others who had faults with Technics on youtube (not hard from a company that sold millions of units)
Technics is known to be the most reliable brand which is why they get used in clubs. Your comments showed how little you actually know about turntables and the history of them. Not all Technics are equal but all were well made. Kabusa sells cheaply refurbed belt drive ones for very little money. Any brand of turntable 30 or more years old is going to need new caps, possible resistors at least checking, motor pulling down and lubing (depending on type of motor system), bearings cleaning and lubing and a general service. 30 + year old caps are the problem with most old hifi.

I hate selling hifi, when it is gone always seem to want to check it against something else. When the new Technics sl1200G arrives it is going to be a struggle with phono lead length getting to the amp and keep all leads short.

I have 4 visitors and 17 permanent residents.
I am currently the owner of five turntables: A Micro Seiki DD40, Marantz 6100, Pioneer A-35, Philips 212 and a Dual 1215-S. All but he Dual are now working properly. Way too many, but I'm sure some of you are sitting on greater hoards than me! Come on, 'Fess up! What you sitting on right now that your not using?
