I don't think the problem is with the relay. It seems to me that whatever is causing the loud pop is putting the receiver into protect momentarily.
I think you need to address the pop issue, which a good cleaning of the controls and switches might cure, or it could be caused by a failing component.

For the caps, more information is needed, such as capacitance value, voltage rating, dimensions (diameter and length), single or (dreaded) dual, how much extra length can be tolerated?

Well,if anyone reading this knows what the Marantz 2325 uses, I'd like to replace mine for preventive maintenance (it's working fine). I'll be happy to check it next cleaning, but that means pulling it out of its walnut case, and I usually manage to scratch it...so if someone knows which relay, I'll just order it first. Thanks!
 
could someone please tell me the difference between the "MY" and "LY" series as well as the "G2R" omron series relays??

are the pin size spacing the same?

I would also recommend a recap of the entire PS board. It was easy, and almost all of the caps had drifted to some degree....:thumbsdn:

I need to replace the relays in my Optonica SX-9100 amp. Here's one of them.

It is marked Fujitsu D024/04AL-01. Will the MY4-02-DC24 do the trick?

Perhaps. Download the data sheet and check the pin spacing. Fujitsu made more oddball orphan relays than any other manufacturer. The one you have appears to be a standard 'MY4' style, but you need to check. Coil resistance should also be about 650 ohms.

That certainly looks like the MY4-02-DC24 with the top row of pins cut off. I had a similar situation when installing new relays in my Mitsubishi DA-A10DC power amp.

This was 2 months ago - Did it work out?
 
Help with Marantz 2325 Speaker relays

Hello,

I am now recapping the power supply board of my Marantz 2325 and also wanted to replace the speaker relays.

I ordered the Omron Ly2-0-dc24 relais from Digikey, but the pins doesnt fit into my board.:no:

The holes on the board look different than these and are situated in one row. The pins in the old one (left on last pic)are also wider than the ones in the Omron.

The old relais is marked: Type MSJ2 24VDC.

I couldnt find a replacement relays for this.

Need help, please! Thanks a lot.

The direct replacement for your receiver would be the Omron MY2-02-DC24, Digikey #Z2633-ND, which is a DPDT 24VDC PC-Mount relay. Looks like some 2325's used the 'LY'-style, and others used the 'MY'-style. With either one, the NC (Normally Closed) solder pins are clipped off.

I just worked on a 2325 a few days ago, which was having problems with the stock relay. This relay also turned out to be a MY2-02-DC24, like yours. I did not have one here in the shop, so I used a MY4-02-DC24 relay by drilling the four extra holes in the PC board (two for the common connections, and two for the 'NO' [normally open] connections...the 'NC' pins are clipped off as usual). On the underside of the board I wired the two left channel pins together with small solid-core wire, and did the same to the right channel, at both the common solder pins and the 'NO' pins, and flowed solder to them to make a good connection and add a bit of current-carrying capability. This allows for two contacts for each channel, and overall increases the current capability by a small amount. It was an easier mod than I make it sound here.

Anyway, if you don't want to fool with such a thing, the MY2-02-DC24 will drop right in on your receiver with no modifications, other than clipping the 'NC' pins.

Is there any importance about the Contact Rating? Nearly all the new Omron MY style relais are marked 5 Ampère, the LY styles are marked 10A.

10A Omron MY style is existing, but has different pins.( with hole, like in Marantz 2270) :confused:

All the original old Omrons LY and MY are marked 10A, also in Service Manual. At least at Marantz.

Contact ratings are certainly important, but the specific conditions under which they are rated tend to vary. In the end, you have to use what fits, regardless of the rating.

Overall, it seems that modern ratings are more conservative than the ones from 20+ years ago, but the relays are essentially the same.

So, I will stay with the 5A relay in my 2325 right now, if it will not end up in malfunctions. :scratch2:

And take 10A relays from rs-components for future projects. ;-)
 
I know this is an old thread, but it is a great example of really useful info including both "how to" info and where to find the parts.
Marantz 2325:I successfully replaced the relay and recapped the PS board as suggested in this thread. The old relay was working intermittently (dropping left channel until you turned up the volume a bit, when it would come back) and the new relay fixed it.
