On the way to a new record for Fisher 400

Bid once, bid your max, bid as late in the auction as you can.

It seems the other high bidder spotted the 'peculiarities' in the bidding, and has also abandoned that auction.

Things are back to normal, now.

I accidentally found that auction last night in a google search, & couldn't believe it. :yikes: I didn't look very close, but figured it better be gold-plated. ;)

Vintage Fisher tube receivers are really underpriced if they sell for anything less than $500.00.

I have my 400 with wooden case and all original tubes, updated and sounding awesome (for want of a better word) that is not approachable by anything modern under $1,000.00 that I have auditioned.

The same is true of vintage Scott tube pieces as well.

Give me a vintage Fisher piece and let me enjoy my music.

Cheers

Holy crap. 42 bid retractions in the last six months. The guy's a dirtbag.

And, that is precisely the reason why I always recommend that bidders never use eBay's proxy bidding system, but always use separate sniping programs.

That stinks. I never saw those. I am surprised that let these shenanigans go on - as there is really no difference in shill bidding except that you pull it. But he makes them dough.

DCinDC - your post is classic. I am still sitting here laughing my butt off while my wife gives me strange looks.

FWIW, I've never felt that the 400 was at all inferior to the 500C (other than having less knobs). In fact, I kind of preferred it based on the ones I've re-hab'bed and the (very nice) 500C that I have.

You're not alone. There are many Fisher fans who prefer the 400 over the 500C primarily due to fewer components in the signal path.

I hate when the bidders pull that crap. I end my own auctions if that happens. And I block the bidders. That one guy with 42 retractions needs to be banned from ebay.

He sold an otari reel to reel for 1800. I have sold one mintin the box with all the original paperwork and only got $250. This guy screws the par for us buyers. Now everyone thinks fisher 400s are worth big dough. eBay should realise he is a shill with so many retractions.
