Seriously if I was a millionaire and wanted this what's the difference between paying $3,000 or $10,000 for something that truly is one of a kind/priceless in it's own way. :scratch2: I'd drop whatever it took if money wasn't an issue and I was a vintage enthusiast like I am.
Last ones I've seen fetched around $3,500 with the wood case. My guess is that this one will fetch around $3,000-3,500. If the economy was better, then it would be a whole different scenario. It is the 400 CX-2 and one of the nicest tube preamps ever made, period.
I have to wonder tho' why his son would be auctioning this stuff off on ebay vs say Christie's or some other auction house. I guess he doesn't have as much money as one might think and could use the cash. (just like all of us?!)
Well and I wonder where the hell all of the old papers, instruction manuals, etc might be? You know they had to have boatloads of these things at one time.
I wonder what's up with the tuner? Most likely the damn thing will end up in Asia. Dammit! Really wish he would have left it here in the states but if he really needs the money.....
