WHAT???
Has everyone given up on our national winter lifestyle and playoff beards? Remember 1972.

Bad Bettman :nono:

Chicago Wolves of the AHL are here. When the Rockford Ice-Hogs come in we'll get to see 9 or 10 Blackhawks.

I love watching hockey, but it is just another form of entertainment for me. If they get their **** together I'll watch some games. If not, I'm OK until next year. There are plenty of things to do. Same as the last lockout. I have no desire to worry about an argument between millionaires and billionaires. They can figure it out if they want to.

If I really need a fix I can watch one of the best major junior teams in the nation, the Oil Kings. Or walk down the street and watch some midget AAA hockey. Or read about how the top scoring player in the AHL is getting some unexpected grooming time before he makes the jump to the NHL. Sorry Leafs and Canucks fans.:D

Dont forget the "Canadians" living west of the Detroit River :D. I'll probably be watching the Plymouth Whalers this season. Ive been a Red Wings fan since they were the Dead Things.

I wish ESPN had continued broadcasting KHL games. It was world class hockey. Not sure why it didn't continue.

What does the NHL bring to the table?
A bunch of furriners with names that I can't pronounce and
high ticket prices. No Thanks.
With the talent level of the college and high school kids who cares
what happens to the NHL.

them "furriners" can play the hell out of some hockey though, cant they :scratch2:

Not to mention how hard it is to define furriner. Do people consider Crosby a furriner in Pittsburgh? Should I make a push to have Hemsky run out of town because he didn't come from here?
And did the people of Detroit ever learn how to pronounce Lidstrom? Or Fedorov?:D

Scandinavians are common enough in the Midwest, I was at a Swedish restaurant just yesterday.

Oh, I know. I grew up in a city that apparently has the biggest Finnish population outside of Scandinavia. We didn't consider them "furriners", though. We knew how to pronounce their names, too.

I think we all know where Gordon is from.
He's also credited with saying, "All hockey players are bilingual. They know English and profanity".:D
He might also have been considered as a "furriner" in the markets that he played in. Which is silly. The same as any European player being considered in the same vein today, IMO. I'm as patriotic as they next guy(especially with hockey), but it's an international game now.

The true hockey fans around here know how to pronounce LIDstrom and FedorOV . Its the me-too bandwagon people that say LINDstrom and FedorOFF ;).

That picture should be of Gordie wearing the winged wheel, where he became a legend.
