My old receiver is awesome but I can’t connect the television to the receiver. I found these two bargains and decided to get them. The receiver is a Onkyo TX-DS797 and the speakers are Infinity a 6 plus surround system. I payed $25 for the receiver and $50 for the speakers. I think that I did good. What do you guys think?6B97BA99-321C-4293-8A9D-84F35D652C83.jpeg5CDA67E7-BB5C-4004-9E1A-868566841216.jpegBBEB58DD-2B5B-4290-937A-6DDCD3187976.jpegView attachment 2733316B98F07DA-0280-4A96-A2A1-F3F405F422EC.jpeg469F1F14-F7BB-4810-A479-A4B1F2F2C15F.jpegF6C8CFE5-015F-43EA-B807-38A90D2BB392.jpegFBE0A464-34CD-450F-8B0F-553BD6019456.jpeg

Looks like a deal to me. Just can't beat it!
I know that everything is old and mostly outdated, but it’s the best that I can get for the money. This is for my living room surround sound system. My real system is my downstairs family room. Here are some pictures of my setup. Marantz 1060 amplifier, Sansui tuner and a JVC cassette deck. The speakers are Polk Audio monitor series 5jr and Time Frame 350 which are restored. The turntable is a BIC 990 to I restored. I can’t complian since they were free.

I never heard an Onkyo I didn't like. You should have a good sounding setup there.
Thank you for your comment. I know that I will have a nice sounding system. I just wanted to hear from you guys letting me know that I made a good decision and your feedback.

I have no home theatre stereo so I'm kinda looking to try something, I'm still working on my room in the meantime. I'd definately throw down for that system, like superdog said, Onkyo never seems to disappoint and age shouldn't matter too much with the sonics.

Thank you for commenting on my post. I’m the type of person who over thinks everything. It took me a few weeks before I ended up with the Infinity speakers. The receiver was a no brainer, I either buy a DAC for the same price or more or buy the Onkyo receiver. Which one would you choose? Good luck in finishing your room. That should give you time to look for your home theater system. I’m sure you will find something. I found mine on Facebook marketplace. I also was checking Craigslist.

I usually watch TV near bed time or have a hockey game on in the background so the TV sonics haven't been a big deal to me. I've got a killer early 90's Technics and several Polk Speakers of different sizes that I could probably put together a nice system. I'm a little naive with surround-sound so I don't know how well the Technics will mesh with modern audio channels.

Working on the last bit of drywall sanding, the worse job of finishing a room, that and fixing the ripped paper from scrapping glue off.

I have that same Infinity Entra sub in my mix-n-match 5.1 TV set up. Perfectly adequate HT sub. I always wondered what the rest of the Entra set looked like. Looks like you got it!
I wouldn't want to watch TV without a sub. I think you will be happy with that set-up.
