Ive no first hand experience with either amp. With that said....
In looking at the hifiengine specs. The M-508 is a newer design and has a significantly better SNR ratio, 120db vs the 5090 with 94db.
The 508 also has better distortion specs.
I also like the internal layout of the 508 more.
And I like the way the 508 uses 8 smaller sized PS filter caps vs the 5090 and its 4 giant PS filter caps. Easier to replace in many cases. And the notion that a greater number of smaller sized caps is preferable to some with the idea its a faster means of charge/discharge.
Given they are both 200 wpc amps Id opt for the 508 myself.
But folks with experience on both amps may disagree and weigh in. Dunno

Speaking of filter caps, these amps are getting a bit older and those 8 caps in the 508 are not a joy to replace. There are a couple of threads on here where people have had to change them.
I have 2 of the 508s and they are quite good and the meters are a big draw to the looks.

This is the reason I sold my M508 a couple years ago. Great sounding and looking amp but I started to look at it as a liability because of those caps
I have a M508 and love it. handles difficult music with ease...
I wouldn't be too concerned about the capacitors. If they need replaced, it would be worth it and then you'd have a restored monster...

I have build amps for a living for 22yrs. I own 65k in power amps alone. I own several m series integras. I have own m-5090 and m-508 listened to them for over 10yrs comparing.

Why not the M5000R? It is flat compared to the older m-series nice nice amp but lacks the dynamics of the original.

I cannot say that the 5000R sounded flat. But it was definitely not as Dynamic or full bodied as my older M-504/508. It reminded me more of a lower powered M-588. In the end, I returned it. But if I had more efficient speakers at the time, I may have held onto it. The P-3000R is the true star of the line up. A mighty fine and well appointed Pre amp.

I have both. I've been really impressed with the set. I do also have a Yamaha P2200 and McIntosh MC7300 that I intended to rotate into the system but I've really enjoyed the amp so haven't done that yet ...
