Onkyo tx 2500 annoying static

So I've narrowed it down to what the noise is: it's thetuner simply cutting out than making popping crackingsounds when it does. Than the volume will go lower, almost as if I'm driving through a tunnel or up a mtn. Without a good radio signal. What do you guys think this Is? On the receiver , all three lights are on ...locked , tuned, and stereo is on . Signal is strong and tuning needle is jn the middle. Sometimes it will do it while the radio is playing also.
I'm opening it up today, I bought solder, 1/4 in. Headphone jack " because it doesn't work" , blue l.e.d lights, new 16 awg speaker wire, fork terminals, , and some electro solve contact cleaner , any advice would be appreciated. Thanks

I was told it's most likely a budged capacitor, but it's a pain in the ass to replace. Just want to get some feed back before I do so so I can do anything possible while it's opened up...ill post pics tonight
