Onkyo tx-4500mkII volume pot accident

Thanks for the compliment on the wagon :) . Best car I've ever driven to this day, and I've driven a lot.

As of right now I think the hum in the 4500 is gone, but it needs more play time. As for the other onkyo, maybe caps are a good place to start, especially since the hum is in both channels.

Here's some pictures. It's sounding pretty good right now, but I still don't trust it enough to give it full voltage.

I'm adjusting the bias right now at full power. So far everything seems to be going alright, of course it's still scary. The last unit that was going "alright" (A sansui 9090) burst into flames. Still have to fix that one haha.

What did you finally end up with for the volume pot? Last I read, I believe it was the borrowed 200k. Very dramatic controls operation there in your video. Were all the lamps good on the unit?

I kept the borrowed 200k in, which is what's going to hang around in there for the time being. I am keeping an eye out for the original control or a parts unit locally though.

It had a few lights out. I believe the fm and phono 1 lights were out, and I'm sure there was another. This unit really did clean up nicely though.
