Only one month of payed "Yahoo" Mail

Telecolor 3007

I love old stuff
I reached the maximum of e-mail storage on "Yahoo" Mail. The big problem is that I can only recover some passwords only by that e-mail adress. Can I pay just a month for extra-storage?

Do you have a way to store emails locally? Sounds like you may have old stuff that is valuable to you on the Yahoo server and could clear up space by moving it to your local computer storage?

Yahoo mail has a storage cap? Didn't know that. I've had that mail for at least 20 years and never ran into this.

I would read up on how to safely store passwords in the first place.

Hint: Email accounts are one of the most frequently targeted systems by cybercriminals.

Log in and start deleting junk.

I pay 18€ a year for 20Gb with a European mail provider. There's a few to choose from, prices seem roughly similar.

I've gone through everything important and changed my contact email to go to the new provider.

I get loads of emails from whatever.com, so I search for whatever.com, select all, delete. Gets rid of hundreds at a time sometimes. I try not to build up much more than about 2000. I get very delete happy around 3000

There's got to be lots of stuff you can do without.

I don't know how to do that.

Several steps:

1. Install a decent email client software, like for example Thunderbird.

2. In Thunderbird create an account for your Yahoo mail - preferably using IMAP rather than POP3 as mail protocol, in case you have the choice. Then cofigure it according to your preferences.

3. Verify, whether it works.

4. Now you can configure the archive function of Thunderbird, if you'd like to use that. In your case, you'd of course configure it to use a local archive folder, so that the archived mails don't remain on the Yahoo mail server(s).

Alternatively (or additionally) you can also create one or several local folders and use that/these to either:

- move your old mails to (using the "move to" function);

- or copy your old mails to and then either delete these from the server or additionally use the archive function as a separate, second step.

The latter (copy to) of course has the advantage, that you have the opportunity to verify, whether the mails have been copied correctly, before you delete or additionally locally archive these mails (using the archive function), thus removing these mails from the Yahoo mail server(s).
