You need to check out the Videolady Nova 8b thread. The Optimus 5b is reference in that thread. It's the same speaker as the 8b, with the only notable differences being the network and the grill.
I bought a pair of Optimus 5Bs for $10. Nice looking veneer, and they sound decent.
But they also sound very bright, compared to my Linn Sara 9s and EPI M180s. Anyone else think they sound overly bright?

Have you checked the crossover switches in the back? Perhaps they're on the 'HI' setting? I have the Nova 8Bs and Nova 8s, which are nearly identical to yours, and don't find them to be bright at all. But mine have also been recapped, and the 8Bs have the VL mod.

Hi Gnesen. The "High Freq." switch is set to "Lo" and the "Midrange" is set to "High". I can't really hear any difference no matter the setting.
I probably should recap my 5b, ADC 303AX (nice speakers!) and EPI M180s. But too many projects in life already!
