I got the components today and just finished installing the voltage regulators, changed the thermal paste for the output ICs, but I didn't change the rectifiers yet. I turned on the receiver with no crackle, and I have been listening to it for the past thirty minutes.

Some questions:
1. Why have me buy the rectifiers?
2. I used thermal paste that's for computers (I had it lying around so I may as well use it) is there a difference between PC thermal paste compared to what I should use?
3. Should I just change the old rectifiers with the new ones or just leave it?

Some CPU thermal paste is electrically conductive. If the heatsinks are isolated from chassis ground your probably OK
