Options for Stax headphone amp.

I picked up an old Stax headphone amp, but don't have any Stax multi-pin headphones to use it with. Stax headphones seem pretty expensive. Do I have any other options?

They're for Stax electrostatic headphones that need high voltage
energizing.

Don't plug anything else into this.

Yes to the above ^

If I remember correctly the unit you have is normal bias, which is lower voltage than the current pro bias units that Stax makes.

You can actually make electrostatic headphones (I did) but it is fairly involved. I would keep an eye out for an older set without the energizer, or possibly post a WTB here on AK or over on Head-Fi.

Does your amp have 5 or 6 pin connector? 5 pin is higher bias and the earspeakers HAVE to be 5 pin. You can use 5 or 6 pin earspeakers with 6 pin amp connector
