Orbit U-Turn opinions

Had my Orbit Plus quite some time now. Ordered mine with the Ortofon OM 5E, now using an Ortofon Super OM 10. It is simply a great sounding table. I have not had any trouble whatsoever with it. I still prefer my Pioneer PL-570 with the Denon DL-110 mostly because it's auto. I would not hesitate to recommend the Orbit to anyone.

Good to hear. Got cold feet on the cart and ordered the Ortofon OM5e thinking I can upgrade later to Super OM 10. Happy with decision and now can't wait to hear the table

Curious how it compares to a Pro-Ject Debut III or a vintage table, like a Sony PS-LX5.

I'm about to replace my Debut III with a fully auto Toshiba with an S-shaped arm. The full auto is really worth it, I find myself not playing records on the Debut III as much as on my other systems, because it's much more of a hassle. Plus full auto removes any risk of that needle digging into felt or bouncing or being accidentally sent skidding across the record. Or of sitting in the end groove for hours and hours.

Charles.

My review of U-turn orbit TT - will be going to the Shure M97XE which I have on my Thorens which will also see below (the cart needs additional wt for the counterweight. U-Turn was graciuos to supply me with the magnetic weights to add to the c.w.)

Wish people would stop trying to justify how much they spent on their 'audiophile' turntable and just tell how the U-Turn sounds.
Just thought I'd chime in..I bought the orbit basic,it sounded quite nice, but I thought I'd try to improve it a bit . ..I got the acrylic platter, this made a difference in bass and stability but expensive. I upgrade the ortofon 5e stylus to the 10.well worth it. I changed cables to disclaimer goldens, run to a nad 2 preamp. Later installed cork mat,,just to make me feel better. as I said originally it was nice..now it absolutely can send me away And I have owned some popular tt over the years.cant go wrong with this choice

I really like the sound of mine (plus modded Orbit with Shure M44-7 DJ cart for more difficult LPs and/or Rockin' ones - a very good combo) . For critical listening my heavily modded Thorens TD 165 with Shure M97XE is my goto table (story of that mod is well documented here in AK at: http://audiokarma.org/forums/index....rens-td-165-turntable-for-restoration.699495/). For the Orbit I just added a great little add-on called a Q-Up lever which I reviewed here on my Thorens Table:

The only negative is I had to displace the Orbit Cue lever which isn't much of a loss as I mainly hand-bomb the tonearm anyway....
