Oscilloscope class - online AK training

Same here. Have a decent scope that I'm going to learn how to do some circuit testing one of these days. Like to find a deal on a signal/function generator and play with some IF transformers too.
 
I'll try to attend as I sold a Tek 465 scope for the same reason. Spent several days every couple of months trying to figure out what to use it for and just gave up as I could never get a sweep of anything.

best time for me would be any evening after 7pm or early weekend mornings
 
I'm in. When Tom comes over, he likes it when I hook the scope up to the tape outputs on the preamp and he can watch the music, but I'd like to measure stuff and follow signals through gear on the bench with it, too. Looking forward to the thread.
 
Add me in. I have no idea how to use on, and I've never used one. I know they can measure the power of an amp before clipping, but they do a lot more.
 
Whatever you do, I'll be looking for it to. Evening don't work well for me (Pacific time) and working late, but a thread would help if its there too.

Wow! What a generous offer! I'd love to learn how to oscope! I've had a few chances to buy one and didn't because I have never touched one and was concerned that it would be next to impossible to learn on my own without some basic foundational knowledge.
As for not needing a scope to learn...I think it would be much more helpful if I did have one when learning.
I took a whole year of electronics in college and it was all lecture and one breadboard assignment and used a very old analog MM to measure something, which to this day I don't know what possible purpose any of that served. Class didn't even get to warm up a soldering iron! The only soldering we did was a drawing of a proper solder joint on a blackboard. All they did was cover ohms law for half the semester and the calculation wheel. I learned nothing. I can't even read a resistor without a color code cheat sheet. Typical california education quality. Turned me off and pissed me off. I resolved that I guess I'll never learn electronics. Now that I am in this hobby I would like to learn something, but not on one of my TOTL or prized peices.
 
I'm in as well. I know the basics, how to turn it on and get a wave to trigger but it will be great to see the practical applications. I've had this nice 7834 for years loaded and ready to go! Let's get it rolling men.
