Ouch...

I really wouldn't be too worried.if you've had them all along and they've not caused problems,impacted with other teeth etc,you may get lucky and have them come out without too much trouble or suffering on your part...i mean it's never FUN,but it may not be a bad as you think

my last one was out minutes after i sat in the chair,and done with only the usual local...my dentist,who sent me to the surgeon because he didn't want to tackle it,would've felt pretty silly if he'd seen how easy it came out...while it's true that a lot of people have some trouble with them,and removal can inflict some trauma and painful healing time...that's not a gauranteed thing or always the case...think positive!
 
I'm taking my teen daughter to have her upper wisdom teeth out this AM. She doesn't have the lower ones for some reason. I had all four of mine removed about 8 years back, my dentist( of 40 years- because he's good, not hot! :) ) advised getting them out because they weren't worth maintaining any more. They gave me the twilight sedative and all I remember is waking in my bed. The wife tells me I walked out of the clinic but I don't remember that! Hope all goes well!
 
Satch- My daughter came through with flying colors. Now to the anti-swelling meds & pain stuff. the saltwater rinses are impotant,too. Good luck to you!
 
My wisdom teeth never broke through.my hot dentist said she had never seen that happen. I told here I wasn't that wise,she agreed.

Had all 4 of mine out about 7 years ago. All i remember was going in and laying on the table and talking to the surgeon. Then next thing i knew, i was talking to the surgeon who was saying "all done". I was like, "but you haven't started yet!" To which he told me he had and then handed them to me in a cup. At that point i realized that he had, indeed, removed my teeth! I spent much of the rest of the day in what my then gf described as a drunken state, going in and out of sleep. Overall, took about a month to fully return to normal. (Potato chips were so wonderful when i first had them again.) The only part that i remember sucking, was the headache that lasted for a full week during the 3rd to 4th week after the surgery.

All is well now, and while my dentist isn't hot, her Australian tech MOST DEFINITELY is. :D
 
If you have cavities in the wisdom teeth, have them removed. The teeth. You can do two now and two after you heal up.

I have a great dentist down here that I've been using for, uhh, 15 years.

If you don't trust your dentist, go to another one. However, just because they give you bad news, doesn't mean that they're wrong. :thmbsp:

Well, just had the first two wisdomteeth removed. There were some... errrr... complications, so it took a little bit longer and they to use a little more force. As a result I look like Mike Tyson used my face to practice on. I also got some extra heavy painkillers. Its scary when the doctor gives you some of these and says, with real sympathy: 'I hope these are heavy enough for you...'
But on the bright side: I survived! Now it's time to enjoy some music, and boy, do I feel like I deserve it.
 
Were they impacted? It's good to get the impacted ones out especially if they are resting against a molar. The wisdom tooth will rot the molar.

Congratulations? Go listen to '60s psychedelic music like Jefferson Airplane, Hendrix, etc. or Yes, Alan Parsons (or Zed Lepplin if you like that stuff). If that frightens you, then I would recommend a nice mellow Allman Bros.
 
Yeah, they were impacted. By now my entire face is hurting like a m.....f....., I have slept maybe two hours and I gotta drag myself to the supermarket for some supplies. Have to say it is worse than I feared.
 
i had a bad experience with a dentist once.
i was on medicaid at the time and the dentist and my parents were trying to get all of my teeth taken care of before it expired,
she did a root canal on one of my bottom molars.
next she decided to re-do a filling i had when i was 12, the filling was a silver color so she wanted to make them all match, i guess,,
she drilled it out and refilled it, it was fine while i was at the dentist because of the novakane.
but when i got home, i found out that it was painfull as **** for me to bite with it, she drilled out too much and the filing was putting pressure on the nerve there.

for the next week i had to chew on the other side, which was previously my bad side, and was new for me.

i went back, explained the problem, and she told me too much of the tooth was gone, she had to do a root canal there also..
so she did,

later after i got home and the feeling in my face came back i found out that the tooth she just did was higher up than the rest of my teeth, dispite me biting down hard as i could when she asked me to.
my medicaid expired and i havent been to the dentist sence then,

but to this day when i close my jaw, that tooth meets my top molars and the teeth on my right side dont touch eachother..
I just hope i never get punched in the face.. i would be loosing a tooth no doubt.

i wish i would of have learned as a kid,, that when my parents yelled at me to brush my damn teeth.. it was so i wouldent have to deal with what im going through now.
