Ow ! Ow ! Ow ! Ow ! Ow ! Ow!...

I have those once in awhile and I found that if I stretch the leg out straight and try hard to point my big toe at my head - thus stretching the calf muscle, if you know what I mean - the cramp stops almost before it gets started. Try it.

All good advice here. But, I wouldn't panic just yet. Everybody gets the occasional leg cramp from time to time, no matter what your fitness level or medical issues.

Hey, my back's been killing me since 1977...

Thanx, guys..It's fun..I'm 51, I DO have diabetes, & I take Lasix for edema-swelling- in my legs. Lasix is powerful suff, it flushes the water out, along w/a lot of the vitamins 'n' minerals you need...And no, I didn't drink as much as normal ystrday..But every now & then, you get tired of having to go "drain a little off" every 15 minutes or so...Grrrrrr....Damned if you do 'n' damned if you don't, know what I mean ?!?

B.T.D.T Sandy, (except the diabetes) and I take a multi-vitamin daily, helped cut down on the leg cramps. I turn the rabbit dash into the turtle slog by taking the durn stuff in the middle of a meal. Seems to slow it down, I'm not stopping whatever I'm fixing every few minutes - unless I WANT to get it over with.....

I'm 52 and get them too. Especially since I had a knee replaced. Keeping up daily with plenty of water, a banana, and 30 miutes on the stationary bike helps alot.

Funny but the best and worst of all the Charlie Horses I remember were one in the same. What made 'em that way was what I was attempting to do and with who in the back seat of my '58 VW. Of course stretching it out pushed the seat of the tracks. Putting those back in the tracks in the dark was no picnic. Later when things were heating up again, they really got hot because the battery was under the back seat, shorted on the springs and caught the padding on fire! For some reason from then on we went to the Drive-In in her mom's car.

Muscle cramps

Ever try salt? Works for me.

Used to, after a hard day in the hot sun, I'd get 'em bad...both legs, arms, back, neck, hands, feet, all at once. Would wind up hanging from a door facing, screaming in pain. Would go on for 30 minutes or so, a lot of times I would get in a hot shower with my clothes still on, knew I could never take them off in the condition I was in.

Started popping salt pills...still get'em, but there is no comparison. My crew even agrees that they're the only thing that really works.

Amazing how much one stiff muscle can hurt so bad, yet another stiff muscle can feel so good.

I find rubbing either one helps.

Calf cramps I find if you grab it firmly and squeeze and massage you can usually get immediate relief.
