Love that cabinet. Me being the preservation nerd I am, I'd have to fix the TV too. It would be very tempting to carefully pull it out, store it, and install a shelf in the hole for other stuff. Installed in a way that it is reversible of course.
The sad thing with old TVs is they are functionally almost useless. You can use an RF modulator to tie in a DVD player to watch old shows but other than for novelty, most folks probably won't bother. Its a shame, its very cool technology and perhaps not as horrible to rebuild as you might think but its hard to justify the effort unless you particularly enjoy that sort of thing.
Not really. I have quite a few and watch them quite a bit. It's very cool watching Perry Mason, Highway Patrol, or the Fugitive on them. I have many others also. But I'm a fan of 50's and 60's programs and if your not, then it probably is a waste of time.
The price is a little steep on that one. $50-$75 would be a lot more realistic. Nice shape though. Also a Glaser Steers changer, which is one of my favorites.
If you have one of these old TVs, grab yourself a DTV convertor box. You can hook it up, connect an antenna and watch your local stations. Old TVs are definitely usable, but the technology to receive OTA TV can be a bit misunderstood.
