Paragon in KC

It sure looks nice in there! As far as what's on top, he owns it so he can put whatever he likes up there. Give him 15K, and you can take it off.

So pretty. So expensive. So ENORMOUS.

It's hard to understand just how big a Paragon is until you've been in a room with one.

I dig contemporary and moderne furniture but I find the design of the Paragon not that groovy.

$15,000 TV stand.I wouldn't have all that **** on it if it was mine.
I would be afraid of putting a scratch on it before i could sell it.

I've seen one Paragon in person. The veneer is unbelievably thick. It'd take a lot to scratch one to where it would be difficult to repair.

I really like them a lot, just out of my price range though. If I was going to spend 15k I would save another 3k and pick up some Jbl D65000s locally.

Rumor has it (from a trustworthy source) is they were originally bought at a storage auction. That guy sold them for 3000. Then that guy sold them to the current seller for 5g's.

I had the opportunity to buy one at a reasonable price years ago, but wasn't knocked out by it. Of course, the $15k one must sound better by default :D

Well are we talking about a single or a pair? For a pair I'd be willing to spend some cash, for a single not so much.

Just have to ask yonder, I got a few buddies out in that area. I would be blown away for that price at 3Gs or even 5!

Why would you want a pair of Paragons?

Ohh you know Sam, one for each ear hah.

I would love to just hear one, although after hearing the D65000 I don't know...

One Paragon is a complete stereo speaker system. Many homes wouldn't have room to comfortably use one of them. Very, very few homes would have a room big enough to actually have two, unless you were sitting on top of one. We're talking about a piece of furniture that is similar to, but larger than, a pair of JBL C43 cabinets laid on their sides and shoved together, end-to-end.

Over the years I've read scorn as well as praise for the sound of the Paragon. I can only add my humble opinion, as I happened upon one some 24 years ago (ca. 1960 build). For years, the 150-4C woofers (no foam surround) needed EQ until they appeared to break in(!). Subsequently, I've added two 2405s in parallel with the O75s in addition to some minor tweaks. Most recently, I put a McIntosh MEN220 into the mix. Now, I bi-amp the Paragon (MC2105 on the bottom and vintage MC275 on top) with the MEN220 and engage RoomPerfect as well. As a result, the bass has bloomed and the sound has smoothed out nicely (for my ears).

I'm a musician, as most of my friends are. I've always believed that the way to evaluate audio (and it's never really transparent), is to listen to music that depends on no reinforcement or electronics for the propagation of its sound - hence natural instruments, classical music, etc., works best for me this way. There have been many times when my wife (also a professional musician) mistook the sound of the Paragon for my Steinway grand. I've always maintained that no one did piano like JBL, strings like KLH, Wagner like Bozak, etc. - we all have our favorites.

Anyway, the Paragon never fails to delight and impress my friends and for me, it appears to do very very well in every type of music.

Two = a Quadragon, mythical creature similar in rarity to the EH Scott Quaranta radio. Except that the Quaranta actually exists. :D

Come to think of it, the Quaranta would be the ultimate piece of overdone tubage to plug into your Paragon. :thmbsp:
