What's cool about Phil was his lack of an identifiable sound (like Phil Spector, for example). He let the artist's sound dictate the results.

BTW, Phil was the sound engineer for Marilyn Monroe's birthday greeting to Pres. Kennedy.

Hard to believe he was also the drummer for the Ramones. JK.
