can anyone tell me about a philco model m 1660? Would it make a decent stand alone amp? Any details would be appreciated.

It's a record player only, stereo console. I have a chance to buy it and I only have the console model number. I can't find anything about it on line. I know it's tubes.

1964 unit, and my Sams folders run out in 1963, so I can't look it up. You won't find the Sams online as it's still in copyright. Some of Philco's tube amps were pretty ugly, transformers on one face of the chassis, tubes on another.

What I’m really trying to figure out is if I should refurbish everything or just gut it and use the enclosure with new guts inside. Is this unit unit worth refurbishment.

I hijacked this thread...don’t care about the amp. Just wondering if I should gut or refurbish.

So gut it and just use the box for new speakers\player\etc?

Just because its line operated doesn't mean its junk. Many of these old economy consoles sound quite nice when restored.
