Philips Vintage Speakers??

Those drivers look very similar to a set in some DIY transmission line speakers I gave away during my move. The drivers were mounted in a tall cabinet with a divider splitting the cab diagonally with a large port in back. Never really had a chance to give them a good listen in a large room.
 
I agree the fact that enclosure volume in an acoustic suspension sistem allows large variations (7 to 25 lts). Any way you must calculate the volume in which the sistems changes from acoustic suspension to infinite box. Larger volumes correlates with larger cone displacements (sometimes unacceptables) I suggest no more than 12 lts.
 
I agree with voltcontrol that in these days we can work with a lot of hardware and software. Philips in the 70s was not so fortunate. Nevertheless they made first class speaker systems like the MFB series above mencioned by other AK members. I work with LMS and LEAP among others but I don t think I make better sisyems than people at Philips did once upon. In other words I use the graphs as a guide but the last word is in my ears.
 
Not meant offensive but just to elaborate;
I worked at the area where Philips tested their speakers way back.
Then called the natlab (Eindhoven, NL), nowadays the HighTech Campus.
The 'old' R&D facility including anechoic and echo rooms which they used to measure their products are still there. Modelling (& measuring) is nothing new (to Philips), computerizing the process just makes it quicker, easier and more accessible to 'the masses'. And knowledge tends to get spread faster thanks to the web ;)

Voltcontrol , I have always had a big admiration for the quality of Philips speakers. I have some ( AD10100/W , 8066/W , 7066/W and 5060/W ) and in many sistems they come close to speakers that cost a lot more. It is a big (and nice) surprise to know that you worked in their labs. I am very curious about the materials they used in their cones, the "secrets" of the voice coils ,the life time duration of the "rubber" surrounds ....In my contry (Uruguay) is not easy to find these speakers, and is harder to find Philips books or other kind of technical literature. MFB freaks is the best source for me . If you know other any other site to find I would apreciatte your advise . And of course you were not offensive ...is only that I was trying to make the thread more "interesting". Best regards, Paddy
