Yep, the preamp amd amp have some issue they did not. Looks like the power amp has an issue with the speaker protection circuit, possibly caps and solder joints. Happily, the board is easy to get to. The preamp is more problematic as the faceplay power switch does not turn off, it is constantly on. I read the service manual last night and talk about a way to make an easy thing very complex, dual darlingtons, realys, yipes. There are a couple of caps so it may be only them but, I wish Philips had simply gone with a simple power switch. The preamp works from the master power switch on the back, but this way all from paneled programmed info is lost.
All works though as I had them tied into my Wharfedales and running for several hours last night. Just intermittant power amp until it gets going. Now, don't all come down on me at 1 time I know the Whafedales will not handle what this amp can put out and could throw the cones across the room. I promine, I was very careful. The tuner is fine and that's what I have been using on a fairly continuious basis. I'll need to see what I should do with the amp and preamp.
