Hi,

I am recapping the phono board on my Marantz 2240. The parts guy said that Film caps to replace most of the electrolytics would sound the same and last much longer. Whaddaya think?

Thanks!

For C401 and C402 you can use 1uF/250V film caps, Panasonic ECQ-E2105KF fit fine.
I don't know where you are going to get a 47uF film cap that will fit in place of C403 and C404. You will probably have to use a regular electrolytic type there.

If H405 and H406 are 2SC458 types, they should be replaced with low noise types such as 2SC2240BL or 2SC1845 (KSC1845).

Just to verify I replaced the 2 mentioned with 2SC2240BL and there is zero noise, I have 8 spares in case you need 2.

Elna Silmic II are nice on the phono board. KSC1845 are good replacements for the 2SC458, won't cost you much either.
