Thanks for the kind words,fellas...glad you like the system.

Due to the arrangement of the room..I have very little options for speaker placement..
so I had to,out of nessecity, place them in this odd-ball arrangement.

Seems to work Ok.


I am able to sit between the speakers as these pics will show...
My sweet spot is the well-worn corner of the couch you see...
Look for the carefully place red colored echobuster panel place right along the
top of the couch to get the early reflections...I used to use stuffed pillows!

The drivers in the Woodmeres are all sourced from Seas and the boxes sitting
next to them are indeed the outboard crossovers.

Wow, that is an amazing setup. I heard some speakers from Tyler (Decade D-10's) powered by McIntosh at the last AK Fest. I was rather impressed with them. :yes:

So I've noticed this in a number of photos... and pardon me if this dead horse has been beaten too many times... Lots of you guys have hardware stacked on top of your amps or receivers. I'd always been warned that you need to allow for plenty of air circulation to ensure that you don't overheat your gear.

Obviously, everyone's gear is still running. At least I think it is, so maybe I've just been paranoid for nothing. Nevertheless, if I stack components directly on top of each other, I always make sure I place the amp on top or somewhere where nothing else is on top of it.

What are your thoughts? (if this belongs in another thread, feel free to move it)

I avoid stacking for the most part. The space that I fit my HT receiver into is pretty tight (maybe 1/2in on top) so I just took the the whole back off to let the electronics breath.

I need to get some new pics uploaded in here, even though I posted just a couple months ago, there have been some changes.

Here are a few pics of my system....

After having spent the better part of thirty years and most of my disposable income on this hobby, I think I've found a system that finally makes me happy...

A mix of recent McIntosh with a few vintage pieces that I just cant live without and make listening to vinyl,FM and tapes much more enjoyable.

The sound is typical,uncolored and alway musical McIntosh...smooth,grain-free yet detailed with plenty of well controlled slam in the bass,when necessary....

The room is my living room which has hardwood floors covered with area rugs and is 20 x 24 x8. My listening position is about 10ft from the speakers.
I've managed to get all the equipment on to shelves of a built in bookcase (using a shoehorn,of course!)I have no problems with EMI or noise with this set-up.

i wish it was an authentic one. No unfortunately its just one of the better replicas.
Is it comfy, Hell yes, but try as many as you can as i found a huge variation between them.

Can you tell who manufactured your Eames chair and do you like the fit?

Updated Listening Space(s)

I felt pretty good about my setup until I just saw David's! Oh well, still sounds great to me. This is my listening room. Wish I spent more time down here, but when I do, it's a treat.

And this is our all-Yamaha kitchen setup where the wife and I do most of our listening.

Robobxman- Do you run a visualizer on the monitors? I was thinking of getting a new imac and using my old one to run the gforce visualizer while I play music.

NAD - no visualizer, just a screen saver. This too is my old iMac. I use it mainly to record vinyl to digital and occasionally listen to internet radio programs.

Classik - thanks ... but actually the tubes are cary v12s and the pre is a Sunfire solid state unit. They play nice together.

Fall in the Desert and time for a change. I hooked up my old Acoustat Spectra 33's. They really change the character of the room and my system for that matter. They are not rocker but they excel with acoustic music.

My entertainment center is extremely rugged and the shelves on which the 3a's sit is part of the tower frame. I drive them with Cary v12 tube amps.
