That looks like converted commercial space, especially with the exposed electrical work and ducting.

You're right, it was a 2200 SF commercial space in Tribeca (Lower Manhattan) which we converted. When my wife and I moved in, it had tons of walls and weird little rooms and rotten floorboards, bugs, mice, disastrous plumbing, crumbling ceilings, exposed electric wires — you name it. We broke down the walls, replaced the floor, debugged, demoused, and demolished. It was probably five years before most people (especially my wife) would consider it livable. Definitely a labor of love, with the emphasis on labor. 
More importantly, I wasn't really able to focus on my sound system until the past couple of years. I've always loved silver Pioneer components, especially the fluoroscan stuff, and I started building around the SA-9800 (which also required some debugging). More recently, I've augmented the system with some tubes (the yaqin MS-300B), which quite honestly has brought a whole new level of warmth and detail to the sound.

They're actually small tables designed by Charles and Ray Eames. They work perfectly with the JBL L100s. You can get them from Design Within Reach (kind of expensive) and lots of other places much more cheaply.

Mate, very relaxing just looking at those photos. Must be really soothing to recline in that chair. Beautiful space.

the first one is my analogue stuff, nothing fancy- i'm working my way up!
technics amp, pioneer turn table, sony cd player and sony mini disk.
speakers below are Cerwin Vega 24S's (i believe...)
and above are sound dynamics
soon to be replaced by a pair of new large advents that are waiting to be refoamed.
the second is my digital, home theatre setup
harmon kardon avr245
psb center channel
audioengine l/r running off the preamp on the reciever
velodyne sub in the corner
and I have some kenwood surrounds up in the ceiling.
with a ps3 for blu ray and an apple tv for rentals and music.
makes me happy

Just finished rearranging the main system here after an unfortunate early-season snowstorm resulted in a tree limb invading the living room. Below is how it looked right after the storm.
And here is how it looks after repairs are done. Amazingly, the only damage to the system was a small scuff on one speaker (the one with the bass trap laying on top of it).

Rich, looks like you had a miserable experience but came out on the other side with a beautiful, cozy space .... Can you tell us about your system? Are those monoblocks? Did all your equipment survive?

Rich nice rig and I love the Bel Canto stuff. My S300iu is probably my most lighly regretted sale.
The system consists of a Bel Canto CD2 transport and DAC3, running directly into Channel Islands D200 monoblocks. Between the transport and DAC is a TacT RCS 2.0 room-correction equalizer. Other sources are a Sonos Zone Player for internet radio and a Sony XDR-F1HD tuner. Speakers are Newform Research R645v3 ribbon hybrids. Cables are Analysis Plus, for the most part, and room treatments are Echobusters and a couple of GIK Acoustics bass traps.
Amazingly, the only damage to the equipment was a small scuff on top of one speaker, and a hole in the side of one bass trap where it was impaled by a branch (and tossed on top of the speaker!). One amp was thrown about 3 feet but landed on its feet, no harm done. The worst thing was waiting for the repairs so I could put things back together.
