Hi Clmrt, those are just grills we got from a car audio place for free. The drivers are the Radio Shack 40-1354 full rangers. They were discontinued long ago. They are a renamed Fostex driver and sound great. My Daughter did blow one with that Crown amp so I replaced the driver and sent her back to college with an Advent Modle 300 that only puts out 15wpc. Cheers.

hey djnagle.. how do those 1505's sound in a smaller room? do the tend to be more directional sounding, or do they allow the sound to mingle around a little more than something like a 811 or 511 would? Man.. that's a lotta horn... Wished I could find me a pair for a decent price..
The amp is (on top) a 6SN7 line stage, and on bottom a 26/300b set amp. They were built by John Hogan, who since passed away. He was very esoteric in his build and used all vintage Webster transformers. I built the rack (I am a metal sculptor) for the amps some time ago.
Yes, my daughter has the bug and has since upgraded her laptop CD for a Denon 2200.
The 1505s sounded great in my room. Absolutly no imaging, but there was NO NEED for surround sound with those.
My favorite was the EVs but I had to turn them to pay for repairs on my boat. I am really enjoying the Jensen Imperials and will totally rearrange them this weekend. I am done switching and swapping. I like what I have and will stick with it....maybe

LOL.. I understand the done switching.. I'm there too.. I'm just looking for one more Motiograph amp so I have a pair I can run my horns on, and to do that, I'll only have to swap my crossover.. then I'm done...
I understand the no imaging.. with my 511's I do have some, but not a lot. In a lot of movies, I'll whip my head around because I thought I heard something beside or behind me, but I think that is more reflections than anything. I'd love to have a pair of 1005 or 1505 horns, but I think in my room, I'd lose what little imaging I do have, but I do think they would sound better than the 511s I will never give up horns though. Yep, you may not have imaging you get our of conventional speakers, but you've got highs that you can't get out of anything but a horn..

The Amp that is in my shody rack mount is a Quad 306. Here is another picture I took of the full 306/34/FM4 (power/pre/tuner) set.
