Pics of your listening space

Damn Fred, your making me actually want to clean my drum room. :nono:

Here's my little system in the living room and not so exciting music room.

Nice! Love the avatar, too- that sort of thing goes on here all the time! Do you have a link to a larger file of that shot?

Thanks,

je

Fred, if I had 1/25th of the stuff you had I would have more than i ever needed for my band. That is quite the collection.

Actually, it's an early oval. The oval window was introduced half way through '53, mine is a January '54.
I'm a vintage speed freak. The motor when done will look like this:

Sorry for the highjack, but my garage is my listening room............or my listening room has a car in it.:scratch2:

Very nice motor - I've only seen an Okrasa motor once in the flesh. Are you building it out as a 48HP model or stroking it?

FWIW - I used to rock a 1971 Type III Variant with a Gene Berg 1679cc motor.

Nice kit!!!!!

Thanks! I have more drums than I have room for. They don't hang from the walls as well as these guy's guitars do, actually trying to thin things down a bit. I read through your headphone thread (I also use the 7506's), what drums do you play ?

I threw that together for here from a pic off the net of the old Maxell poster. It wouldn't look so good enlarged, didn't spend that much time on it.

I play DW drums and Sabian cymbals. I also have a vintage Slingerland kit that I am restoring...

Doh! I posted in that thread. I get lost, spend alot of time on another forum for drums and forget what I'm doing sometimes.

That's a nice kit, I can't even phathom a DW. I like Slingerland too, there is a pic of my 70's Slingerlands there on page three.

I just went back and looked, that Slingerland is really cool! I love my DW's, I bought them new in '97 back when all of their kits were made to order.

The scary part is that I spent about a year & a half selling/trading/giving stuff away when I moved from NY to VA- this is only a portion of what I used to have crammed in my little house in Long Island.

You'd probably do fine with just the stuff that's still on the shelves in my utility/storage room.

Nice selection of axes there Fred :thmbsp: Is that a Gretsch on the right (2nd from the back)?

Thanks- that particular guitar is a 1982 Vantage VSH-445, an ES-335 copy. Nice guitar, in beautiful shape. I had a Gibson that was very similar, but hardly ever played it. I would like to add coil taps to this one, though, I think it would be interesting to have the single coil option sometimes.

The Gretsch I used to have access to is still in NY, my singer/songwriter had a 6123 Mike Nesmith Monkees model:

Over the years I've kept about a dozen guitars that have become "family", and offer some variety for recordings or just for fun jams. Lots of others have come & gone.

I was actually talking about all of them!

Pic #1 Bottleheads Strait 8's (My all around Favorites, but only with a low power amp. There just awesome, I have nothing but good things to say about them. Note: except this, they sound terrible with a high powered amp. I find they loose all there dynamics.

Pic #2 Soundtube's, (I know nothing about them. They do sound way better than they should.) I have been considering, starting a new thread in an attempt to find some info on them.

I just swapped them out tonight, with the magnepans in the background. I'm finding the soundtubes are surprisingly better imaging speakers. They just might be one of those rare steals. Through my research, I think they might have been originally designed for outdoor use, but have never found more than a sentence on them.

Pic #3 Tekton, (these are my 2nd favorite pair.) Every single person who has heard them, has been impressed.

Pic #4 Was of the Kinetic Audio Efficiency's, But looking back at the pic... It seems I just got overly excited about my recent amazon purchased projector.

The kinetic audios sound really nice on my tube amp, but get over shadowed by the bottle heads. The kinetic audio's are interesting, because they can literally shake the house, when powered by just a t-amp.

This is a great tread, I was really starting to think I had a problem.......

But Fred Sanford, and Marantzroom have convinced me that what I'm doing is perfectly normal behavior.

I am no longer biamping for the time being...so In come the EV12trxb's in Coral cabs (Meant for TET-12's).

At the moment the SA-232 is driving them quite nicely with a full complement of Telefunken tubage.

At least I've been working in the AV industry for 25+ years, I do have SOME kind of excuse...but, yeah, I'm normal, and so are you!

Who did those cabs? Beautiful. I've been thinking about doing something like that with my Mac cabs. Maybe burled Walnut.

Dan Crosby who runs McIntosh Cabs,,,he also has a banner down (sponsor)...I am gonna have him make more cabs for my Pilot receivers as well...mine are AAA Quilted Bubinga.

I have one question, Is that really your toilet?

Nope! It's an iPod dock.

A good friend of mine made it, looking for a way to have people throw their iPods into toilets and yet improve their sound. It has a sub driver under the seat, and amps in the tank. The flusher handle is the volume control.

More of his fun creations here:

Actually, he's got an interesting listening space, too...I'll post up some pics of that.
