Pics of your listening space

Over the weekend...

...my Henry Kloss-designed Tivoli PAL radio playing in the CCC-built stone cabin at Bastrop State Park.

I just rearranged my bed/everything room, a project spurned by a sudden desire to move my turntable into a more space efficient location. I'm amazed by how much different the room feels. I used to have the bookshelf my turntable and receiver are on stack on top of the table that now has my right speaker and second display. Just by dropping things down a bit, including one of my lamps, made a huge impact. And those Infinities look real imposing when they'e two feet from your head.

I included pictures taken without flash where they didn't turn out too blurry. Funny thing though, I didn't change the lights at all between the real dark photo of my desk, and the rather bright one looking in at my bed.

So, you use the top drawer and that's it?

Hey Pmsummer, I'd love to see more pics of that cabin. If you more could you post them or PM me. My brothers and I are thinking about building a log cabin in northeren Michigan and looking for ideas. We don't want the run of the mill kit cabin. Cheers.

I'll PM some to you tonight. They'll be of the all stone cabin we stayed in. These were built by the Civilian Conservation Corps in 1933. They also built lots of log cabins, with stone hearth/fireplaces. You might even find some plans online for them.

P.M.

Just did a thorough cleaning of the music room. I re-arranged my components and got rid of some extras that I wasn't using at all. Now, all my components have plenty of air to breathe and it doesn't look cluttered. My Infinity Entra Ones are my main speakers right now as the Realsitics now have the job of rocking my garage. The Infinitys sound great for an "economy" speaker. Would like to get some Advents or ARs though. The couch is blue, has a table and reclines. I'm fine with it.

Here are updated photos of our dedicated music room. Last weekend I painted it and added the GIK acoustic panels. I'm looking for some sort of sound diffuser artwork for the wall above my chair. Any ideas please share. I share the room with my two eight year old musicians in training.

Thank you. We used the same color in our previous home and really liked it so we used it again.

Very nice systems you have. I have a Technics 1700 MK2 and really like it. I'd like to grab a 1600 MK2 if I can ever find one local.

My living room is 11x18. I have the back corners trapped and the first reflections dampened. The Ohms are 24" from side walls and 38.87" from the back wall.

I once had a turntable that sounded like crap on a concrete slab, After I raised it up a bit (Just a few inches), a very predominate hiss went away. I was never able to explain it, but could duplicate the phenomenon upon demand.

My opinion on cable risers, is why not? If my turntable was effected so predominately, why wouldn't my speaker cables be?

In my old house, I did experiment with them. I never experienced the same issues after I moved, As a result, I no longer use them. But I'm not on a slab anymore either. I'm also not entirely convinced yet there isn't some sort of merit to it. When applied to every circumstance.
