I always thought mine was decent.... Then I saw yours. Man, Mine absolutely sucks!

I thought mine was decent, too- but that's really dramatic!

Can't go a month without changing something. Added Nestorovic 5AS Mk. IV Signature today. Traded for a VTL preamp. I must say I did well on the deal.

Mount St Helens......

in 1976 I was with a high school geology field trip we hiked up to about the tree line right smack dab in the middle of the part of the mountain that blew itself all over Eastern Washington.

When the Mountain exploded Paul Schmidt the older brother of one of my best friends all through school disappeared He's "known" as the Photographer that died on the Mountain that day.

Me I was sitting on a table in middle of one of the wards at OAK KNOLL NAVAL Hospital in Oakland CA. Having just finished duty for the day along with a dozen others staring at the tube.

The next morning there were guys on Fisherman's Wharf selling tiny bottles of Ash for $2.00 each. I told them I figured I had plenty piled up in the back yard.

I got out of the Navy just in time to get my first place in Portland and have the second or third eruption dump ash all over everything around me.

Next time I was there was to take a school bus of kids to the visiting center. A trip from Hell done for a nearby school district. The rangers at the visiting center actually told the teachers that Mollala school district would not be welcome back until they got a letter of apology from every one of them asshole 6th graders.

Finally got to go with the wife a couple years ago and enjoy the mountain.

Let me just fetch my $hit...O'm moving in...

Working on a minimalist system for my "killer view".

...from here.

I wonder if crisp clean air affects sound quality? Probable, ain't it?

Here's a look at my man cave, located in my unfinished, unheated :sigh: basement. Keep in mind that I usually have the lights dimmed very low, with just some glow from the lava lamp and from a blue light bulb covered with a Japanese paper lantern. It looks a lot less dreary than the photos imply, and is actually a very cozy spot to spend an evening. It may not look like much, but down there in the basement I can crank it at midnight and not bother the rest of the family. SOMEDAY (when there's more $$) I'll get it turned into a properly finished room.

On the other side of the record shelves is another space with my drum set, guitar amps, and recording gear (Otari 1/2" 8-track).

Command Central, located withing reach of the listening spot:
(The old Garrard is only for 78s.)

The comfy chair, complete with electric blanket and space heater:
(Note the matching '62 Voice of Music tube amp & tuner, my hifi pride & joy.)

View from the chair:
(Looks a lot better with the lights dimmed and the blue light above it switched on.)

Stacks of wax (about 40% of my collection):
(The pile on the right is going to a thrift store.)

I was about 20 miles from the mountain on the day it blew. Fortunatly I was on the kind side. A few friends were not. Not a good day...

Speaker placement is less than ideal, but as my options are limited as you can tell. The power amp, subwoofer and computer source are in the in the cabinet where little fingers can't get to.

Oh yes, there is nothing like the magic of mountins in real life. Especally when living in a flat place as Denmark, the highest place here is pritty much in summer when people are laying on the beach and there toes rise up.
