Pile o' drivers.

Simi---I'm not aware that Heil's T-35s were different than any others. I was given 6 or 8 of the things, some worked and some were blown. They're OK tweeters but with the purple paint and all they just made great ashtrays. It was the times, know what I mean?

I'm with ya brother:smoke:

Bowtie---Yeah, I remember that Jammin Jeresy used to have some purple Sunn drivers for sale, JBL 2440s maybe? Maybe 288s, I forget.

Remember that big JBL Sunn PA that was on ebay a while ago?

Sunn was great stuff, Leslie West used Sunn during Mountain's heyday, his sound roared.

I got outbid on that SUNN system.. I was trying so hard to win that one. I got up to $2600 on it, but finally said enough was enough.

I had called and talked to Bob about that system while it was up for sale. The whole reason I was bidding on it was because he was the person that designed those cabs for SUNN. Talked to him for about a half hour about it, and it was a really interesting conversation...

He knew about the system up for sale and was watching it. He got to talking about he was then working with ZZ top and tuning his new mics for them to use on their tour..

Quite a hell of a great guy!

LOL.. yep.. I can understand completely!!!!

They also had a penchant for purple amplifiers.
(Seems odd they would use "Flame Linears" if they were so prone to combustion! As seems to be the opinion of so many here. Myself NOT included!)

Too cool.. so are those your amps? If so, my wife just said if you ever want to sell them.. SHE wants them.. WOW.. I'm impressed, a wife wanting amps.. but I'm sure you can understand why.. I guess it runs in the family, my wife is a purple fan too...

Sorry, but not mine. Mine are just your run of the mill Phase 400's. Those pic's are from Dean's Phase Linear Site. He doesn't own them either, the pics were sent to him for the site. Still an interesting bit of history. I used to have another pic of Pink Floyds early gear on loan to a band called Hawkwind but I cannot find it. Also using "Flame Linear". (how strange!) :D
