i might rescreen both speakers at some point (with some period-appropriate fabric); these look water damaged, though, take a look at the first pics.

do you have pics of yours, craig? i'd love to see them.

Sorry no dig cam I should get one in the next couple of weeks, then the fun part of trying to get them posted Ha Ha! Mine was my grandpa's bought new in '57 or '58 very mint, just s couple of sctatches on the cabs where the lid pulls down for the pre-tuner where the bracket screws to the lid the veneer is pulling away, still has the multipule coats of wax polish grandma put on it=way to shiny, now the electronics need a going over, the controls are very scratchy in use but, when their set the sound is unlike andthing i've heard,I know a guy here in Tucson who comes recomended for the electrical supply store to go over it, I bought new output tubes EL84's if I remember right,I don't have a variac and I don't play it that often is this a problem, whitese dosen't seem to think so, my gramps just turned it on, I don't leave the room when it's playing just in case, it is 60yrs old, so I assume it needs just about everything redone, about how much for a full redo of the 690-A and the amp do you guys think will be so I can budget,Thanks
Craig I swear pics coming soon!

Hi Craig,

Oooh Man, I wouldn't worry about the Face plate. I was just STUPID and NOT paying attention when trying to move the unit. I did NOT look where
I had placed my BIG Paw and I applied DIRECT pressure on the back of the Glass Face Plate and SNAPPED it in two! Duhhh. If I had been paying attention to what I was doing, it would of been fine.

Regards,
SixCats!

Hey Bill,Almost, thw cabs look the same reddish wood and all same dimensions, the tt is a Garrard and likes like yours, the pre-tuner says 690A on top and has two extra little blk switches on the bottom one for loudness and one for AM narrow and wide, don't hate me guy's please, the amp is the same:banana::banana:,the other speaker cab plaque says Pilot 1090 speaker system, the one on the main unit says Pilot 1090-A componet console, so cool we can go through this redo together(misery loves company) this guy here in Tucson is supposed to be really good, I've talked on the phone with him a couple of times and he SEEMS like he knows his ****, whendo you get yours? You don't think it will cost over $300 to redo everything do you? Let's stay in touch ok? I plan on starting mine in March.
Peace and happy Piloting Craig
