Pioneer CT-F750 Tape Sensor Problem

Hello! My pioneer CT-F750’s tape sensor button seems to be causing problems with playback, FF, RV, etc. This deck functioned great until tonight. It seems that the sensor button only actuates if pushed in very slightly. All the way out, and the deck won’t play. All the way in, and the deck will stop playing. I can’t play tapes unless I pull the tape just slightly out of place on the one corner. If I hold it in the right spot, the deck will play, but only through one channel.

Does anybody here who knows more than I do have any tips or suggestions for going about getting this fixed? Any help is appreciated.

First time I have heard of this issue. I imagine there is a microswitch that is actuated by this 'button'. I have heard of and experienced failed microswitches. Get the service manual and see if you can spot where the button actuates a switch, and\or open the deck up and look for it. Hopefully, you have a common microswitch, which are easily sourced. Perhaps it's mounting is loose-it might be able to be moved just enough to get the button's stroke to actuate it reliably.

Yes, you’re right. I ended up opening the deck and poking around to find that micro switch last night. The switch does not seem to be functioning properly, but I was able to get the deck running again by adjusting the switch’s position. The process for that is listed in the CT-F750’s service manual. This may only be a temporary solution though. I’ll look into replacing the switch outright if this happens again.

Thanks for the help and input! Hope you have a great day!

My unit will not fully power on to have the relay "CLICK" or supply power to the motor or display meters, does NOTHING
I tested the motor and drivetrain to be working, why no power to unit?
