Pioneer HPM Speakers

you can go by what retail cost I guess, you usually get what you pay for. Those 200"s have to be near the top, nearly 200lbs each says alot

just noticed there"s a set of HPM 1500"s that look to be mint on miami cl, dude wants 750, I dont know if thats a good deal or not. Near 100lb"s each, I am guessing these arnt near as good as the 200"s ??

Personal opinion only but if they are truly mint, and fully functional, that's a pretty reasonable price. Most 150/1500's I see for sale are listed for much more, but I don't see those selling, either.

There is a nice pair of 150's FS here in Chicago but the ask is $1,500, not going to happen...already on like the fourth go-round on eBay with no price reduction...

sky, I was checking all your pics out, man youve got some cool stuff there man. I cant believe i"m not seeing a set of klipschorns somewhere, I must have missed em. Are those HPM"s your best ??

The biggest thing I would guess is make sure the woofers are original .

Just purchased a pair of 1500's that will arrive this weekend. I'm looking forward to refoaming them and getting them up and running. I've never listened to any of the HPM line but know of their reputation.

I'll set them up with the Carver ALS and the Sansui SP-L700's for some comparison testing and post up the results and pics.

Just be very, very careful with the refoam. The woofers are brittle and can be broken with rough treatment. Also, if memory serves, they are bigger than 15" so be sure your surrounds are the correct size.

I'm a big fan of the HPM series. I need to recap my 1100s and get them back into rotation.

Crap! One of the woofers is seized up tight. Won't move at all. I'm really hoping I can get this fixed locally. I'd really rather not replace that woofer with a non original driver.:sigh:

Not sure. That gets into a realm that I'm unfamiliar with and would rather experiment on something less special. There's a local shop I will take it to.

I seem to remember the woofers being 40 cm ?

There is one woofer for sale at "the big online auction place" very reasonable if you need it, not affiliated, blah blah blah...

Hey, ancient history I know but can you tell me the model numbers in this photo, I'm guessing l-r hpm 100, 60, 40? My confusion is I didn't realise the 100 is so much taller?? What size is the driver?

You got the model #s right. The 100 uses a 12" woofer and the 60 and 40 use 10".
