Pioneer RT-707 Recap + Head Relap

yes , the mic and line input pots left and right ohm measurements don't match (checked inciruit). What the MRl cal tape ? maybe thats off . I will run the 1kHz 0db part and set the left higher and see what input signal levels are .

I keep finding more problems, the output pots on the rear don't effect the VU's when playing a tape, the output of deck is increased though. The left mic is lower than right, the left headphone will cut out . I don't know where to begin :>)

The only thing wrong with the deck ,is me . I can't have frequency gen. turn up to high .I may have been over loading the inputs? The deck records fine on both channels and the meters look good on record and play.. The output pots work(on play) just don't effect the VU's that much . The factory tapes sound levels show lower on VU's than it sounds to me ,7.5 tapes are better. thanks for your help

It's very exciting!!! I received my relapped heads back from JRF Magnetics last night and put my freshly recapped RT-707 back together. I did a preliminary test and everything works great so far. Haven't tested all functions yet. I need to test all functions, do the electrical adjustments and then I'll post my recap list and notes.

Stay tuned boys and girls!

Edit: the notes and recap list are in post 8.

Curious - how much was it to relapp the heads at JRF? Considering that. Thanks!

As I don't want to run afoul of the forum rules, I responded by PM. If you collect tapes and don't want to ruin them, it's worth getting it done. If you email JRF, they will send you a quote. They are VERY helpful.
