I think I got lucky that my problem was likely a bad solder joint. I never did solve the hum issue. I ended up selling it several years ago to a repair guy. Not sure if he ever fixed it either. The SX-2500 is a very impressive receiver, but it's nice to have it fully working. Best wishes on yours. I no longer have any Pioneers. I got converted to Sansui and never looked back.
