Pioneer SX-828 vs 1010

I have an 828 (and 2500, 990) and really like the sound. Just wondering if I'd notice any difference in the sound of a 1010? Initially, I had wanted a 1010, but decided to pick up an 828 since they are half the price of a 1010. Have not been disapointed with the 828, but did I miss anything in sound quality by not getting a 1010? I do not need the watts. I do not drive my receivers past about 10 o'clock. All my rooms are small/medium.

the tuner in the 1010 might be a bit better, first introduction of a quadrature detector, HA1137 instead of the old ratio detector and the PLL stereo decoder. easier to align :-)
 
@KeithD I own both a SX-1010, and SX-828. Both are fantastic sounding receivers authoritative and crystal clear! You really need to hear them side by side, but I would be willing to bet you'd love them both. I do! Enjoy!
 
I've had an 828 and a 939. (939 is basically a 1010 dialed down slightly on power output) The 939 was recapped and had a bunch of problematic transistors replaced. The 828 outside of the deoxit bath I gave it was all original. I actually preferred the 828 to the 939. To me the 828 oozes quality and has perhaps the nicest wood veneered cabinet in the Pioneer lineup of the day. The overall presentation of the 828 (sound and appearance) is hard to pass up.
 
Get both, be done with it....Thats what I would do, and then if you find yourself using one more than the other you know which one it is you prefer....
 
Well, this is digging up an old thread and I have moved on since then. Have totally gotten out of Pioneer in favor of Sansui. Sold the SX-828 to a guy at work that expressed interest in it. I did like that receiver, looked great and sounded good, but the more I listened to and researched Sansui, the more I became convinced they were better (at least for me).

One anecdote, over the past several years I owned 8 Pioneer receivers/amps. All of them ended up having something wrong with them (even ones sold to me as working). In comparison, I've had four Sansui receivers. All worked as received and are still working with some cleaning of the controls. That sample size seems too large to just be random.
