pioneer sx 950-no sound

Just bought a sx 950 and all lights work also tuner signal meters work but i have no sound. Any ideas?

pre main jumpers ? switches in wrong positions ?.. in protection ? blown fuses ?
could be any of them plus all manner of things in the circuits .

I have a sx 1050, know bout tape b and all, where should i start first?

i would start by taking pre out to another amp to check the pre is working .

speaker buttons in: a, b, c, ab, ac, bc = sound
speaker buttons abc ALL IN = SILENCE

know about the power amp's pre-out / power in jumpers? back panel dead center lower row
gotta connect out to in for sound.

front panel switches:
all levers up, 2 buttons in: FM and a speaker. speaker selection button in not needed for headphones nor does abc kill headphones.

no, but all lights up.

ok are you handy with a multimeter ? if so then some diagnosis is in order. if not then you need to learn or send it to someone who knows what they are doing ..
first check is dc volts at the inputs on protection relay or check output transistors for shorts

Check Q5 a transistor on the power supply board on the bottom of the unit. While it could be a variety of things this is usually the culprit when the relay doesn't engage.
