PL-41 Platter Dimensions + Mounting

Hey-o everyone,
I'm currently working on repairing a PL-41, and a lot of the posts here have been super helpful (thrust pad, replacement belt, cartridge recommendations etc.), thank you.

The only problem is, my PL-41 doesn't have a platter. I have access to a machine shop, so I figured I could just machine one out of some 300mm x 10mm aluminium round stock as per http://akdatabase.com/AKview/albums/userpics/10004/Pioneer PL41 Owners.pdf . (Actually the original is 310mm diameter and doesn't specify the thickness, I calculated the thickness based on density of aluminium and quoted mass of 2.2kg to be approx 10mm). Just wondering if anyone who owns a PL-41 with an oem platter would mind measuring it for me, specifically:
- Outer diameter
- Real thickness
- Mounting bore diameter (also, is it tapered or anything fancy? Or any other clever mounting strategies? Does it just rely on a friction fit with the capstan?)
- Positions and diameters of the finger holes (why not)
- The thickness including the mat ontop (if I make the platter too thin/etc, I can make a cork or other material mat that it thicker etc.)
- Anything else of note I might have missed

I‘m not a machinist but it seems like a complicated thing to make. The center hole is tapered and I wouldn’t begin to know how to measure it. There are several on the big auction site. You might have better luck there and if you want to make one you would have one to model.

The spindle taper will probably be a MT ( morse taper ).

The underside of the platter is not flat so your thickness calculations would be off.
You also need the proper rim height as the belt changes position slightly when changing speed.

Do yourself a favor and pick up a platter made for your PL-41. Search ebay and post a wanted on the various forums.
Unless you can get precise measurements of an original to copy you won't be happy in the long run. I'm speaking as a machinist.
