This is probably the case...thinking back I have always noticed the Rega sounded a little faster when switching between it and say an AR table I may have on my bench.

In all honesty it does sound better to my ears at 34 rpm.

As saxophonists are apt to say, "Better to be sharp than out of tune..."...

There's no average! It depends on the content, i.e the groove modulations. It doesn't really matter. If you stick to a figure like 33.01 RPM, emphasizing the second decimal point, which is 0.03% of the measured speed, you should also be able to measure stylus drag. That's true even if I'm 100 times wrong about stylus drag influence on the speed. It just doesn't makes sense for you not to see it - which is why these apps on certain phone are simply unreliable. I wasn't kidding about banging a phone once too many. It can destroy the accelerometer crystal and it generally places it out of kilter.

Don't worry about me. You should worry about why you feel the compulsion to continue. Phone abuse, what a hoot. Start a cable thread if you want to continue in this vein and obsess over minutiae.

I agree, this is my experience as well.

I’ve yet to see a table that didn’t respond to needle drop even my heavy platter big motor tables, think ROK TR12H, and such….tables like my Denon DP 75 just overcome and stabilize extremely quickly

Yes, that's what i meant -- servo tables overcome it and stabilize it, but the needle drop (or groove modulations as tnsilver indicates) will modulate the speed in some amount. The less the better, for high-end reproduction.

It is relevant to warn that phone sensors are fragile here, since that's what people are using to measure speed/wow. It does not apply to you? Ok, but you're not the only participant in this conversation.

But you felt the need to tell me twice. You say it once it's for everyone you say it again to the same person it isn't and falling back on that is pretty weak. You ever hear anyone say "I broke the gyroscopic sensor in my phone". I haven't. Esoteric is the word that describes this subject of stylus drag very well and most could care less. Too bad you and Deputy Dog got in a snit about it.
