Good lord, the neighbors!

But at last count, I have about 90-MT-200’s in four different amps, eight Toshiba 180 watt output devices in another, and 90- 125 watt Toshibas in another mono amp set. Some other heap of outputs (16) in a Levinson 432, and eight Hitachi MOSFETS in a Goldmund. all in a New York City flat.

I go in spurts.....I play on the loud side most of the time but if Im drinking, it gets real loud. I had a buddy of after a good night drinking he wanted to hear iron maiden bad. I put on a good clean record of Piece of mind.
both sides 1 am LOUD! the next day he said I wrecked his hearing. sissy.

:yikes: in a flat! :yikes:

Never thought of count of output devices... but the 4 amps in that stack have 96 MT200s in total (A1295/C3264) (64 total) A1216/C2922 (32 total)

Yeah, it is a fair sized place, but still a city dwelling. So between us we have a couple hundred or so of those SanKen’s handy.

Those look like Ramsa amps.

Good for loud, and a tip o the hat to the op. Loud is good sometimes.

Yeah DS 2x WP-9220 and 2x WP-9440

yeah we certainly do have a good count of em

have 2x SE-A3MK2 w/ 16 a piece

I have a heap of others... basically if one of my amps is discrete output, it’ll have MT200s on the heatsink :D

I would like to listen louder than I am able to, but since we live in an appartment, I have to keep it to sane levels.

The neighbors are pretty cool, though. I can listen relatively loud, at least to classical music, and I know for a fact that they can clearly hear it. But they say it´s ok :)

What's your loud range? How often do you like loud? Thanks for participating.

It's difficult for me to get accurate readings sometimes, because my SPL meter is a simple consumer model that has a max of 130dB. Above that it just says "Hi".

I setup my system to be very flexible. Multiple amps and multiple pairs of speakers, but which ones I choose depends on the situation. There are plenty of times when I listen at "normal" levels, sometimes only using one pair. Sometimes I use my subwoofers, sometimes I don't. When it's time to party, I can run them all at the same time, and it can be fun.

Some fun examples that I made a few months ago for another thread:

The ability to play loud is important to me but it has to be with no audible distortion. My listening position is 12’ away from each speaker with the speakers creating an imaginary triangle to the sweet spot. I managed 127dBA with a pair of HPM-100 hooked up to a Behringer EP-2500 set with a 10dB of gain overlap. I wore earplugs for that test of course. Currently I’m using a pair of Mach Three hooked up to a Yamaha DSP-A3090 and that combo regularly plays at 90dB+ with ease because of the 15” woofers and horns.

To parrot the signature of a well respected audio guru, and late 70's Cerwin Vega advertising slogan:
Loud is Beautiful if it's Clean
