Poll: Do you use a sub-woofer for 2-ch. music?

I have found that an EBS ported alignment has all the tightness and impact of a sealed enclosure with the added low end and lower distortion of a ported sub. With the appropriate specs, a sealed cabinet with enough woofers, or even more preferable, an infinite baffle subwoofer can be amazing. I've personally heard excellent examples of all alignments.

Car audio is different ball game altogether. The transfer function of a cars cabin often makes a high Q sealed enclosure result in the flattest bass response measured in car. Ported enclosures in cars make little sense unless loud is a primary system goal.

I found during my car audio days that the most natural sound was had if there was a gentle rise (6dB per octave) from approx 150hz down.

It's turned down to 20hz.

Interesting.....totally accurate! Slope is now -18db and resonant freq changed from 52hz(sealed) to 49hz (ported). The car is a now a hybrid SQ/SPL vehicle and taming the sub is a handful...........much time retuning for events.

I think I now understand what you are saying, and thank you for clearing that up.
