We have not had a good poll for a while, so what was your first piece of McIntosh equipment?

My first Mcintosh was a C2200 about 4 years ago. It was the start of a great love affair. Since that first Mcintosh I have bought 13 other McIntosh items (counting speakers pairs as one item) and become one of McIntoshes biggest fans. :D

It's hard to believe how hard and fast I fell. I bought a MA-6300 in September of 06, and look at what I have accumulated since. In fact, I did not keep the 6300. This forum convinced me that with k-horns, I had to have tubes!!! I am truly in love.

Ahhhh errrrr hmmmm not sure if this qualifies but I have and am the proud owner of the McIntosh book.:tears::sigh::tears:

For now....:smoke:

MC501s. Love at first sight and sound. Although it was the 402 driving the Totem Winds that had me seek out the 501s to give them a listen but at that point I knew McIntosh was the sound I was looking for. My BAT and ARC gear was sold shortly thereafter. 201, 275, MDA and MCD purchases followed. Looking forward to some of the new McIntosh gear on the horizon. :thmbsp:

MC250 & C24 exactly 36 years ago next Friday. Still have both, still use the 250, still sounds good.

Counted the C24 on the survey because preamps are underrepresented there. Need a way to tally more than one component in the same purchase.

MX-110 purchased from the owner of the store who gave me my break in stereo repair. Paid $399 for it, used, in 1974. He also sold me a Thorens TD-124, SME arm and an Ortofon SPU-GT to go with it. They were all stolen a year later.

Some 4 years ago, an MX-110 and a MC-225 came into my life and I've been collecting again ever since.

Cheers,

David

MCD7005, 20* years ago. I ended up selling it to my father-in-law or should I say my soon to be EX-father-in-law about 6 months later. It took me 20* years to come back to Mac when I bought my MA6500 in July. It's good to be home  and I have no plans of leaving anytime soon. :D

MC 402 was my first Mac. I used to listen to my system ocassionally. But since the 402 I can't wait to turn it on and listen for hours after work or on days off. It has now become a passion/addiction/obsession!!

I puchased in 1973: MA-6100, MR-77, and a pair of ML-2's!! Beautiful sound but my wife made me return the very large speakers. If I had known then how that marriage was going to turn out, I would have kept the speakers and returned my wife!!!
