I got my start with a MAC4100 that I purchased new somewhere around 1978. The best part is I still have it and it still works. The purchase price represented a lot of money to me at that time, but I have never been sorry.

I now have some newer McIntosh components, but I have referenced that purchase several times over the years as an example of the value of buying quality stuff.

Like many I lusted after mc gear as a kid, but found it out of reach until I could afford it. The MA2275 was my first piece – and likely to be my last ‘new’ mc for a little while. Sound wise it comes close to what the separates offer, with less features. Man does it really make it hard to justify the cost to jump to separates!

Ahhhh errrrr hmmmm not sure if this qualifies but I have and am the proud owner of the McIntosh book.:tears::sigh::tears:

For now....:smoke:

Sure that qualifies, I actually thought of putting the book on my poll.

I'm sure this is just an oversite, I see a MA2275 or MC501s or MDA1000 or MS750 (there are so many good choices) in your future. :D

My first McIntosh components were a pair of MC30s I bought at an estate sale.

Not a bad way to start, if you ask me. :D

Then came the C28, and MC2505, and MR74, and MI3.

Is that you taking a deep look into your crystal ball Victor??? My plans are for 2 x MC275V running mono into a pair of SF Cremona floorstanders. Going to flick my present HT set up as music is my preferred lifestyle as opposed to movies and the like.

Also hoping to run a Slim Devices Transporter, but that's for another discussion.

C712

My first McPiece was a C712 slimline preamp. It was stolen earlier this year along with my second McIntosh component, an MC7270 amp.
I now have 3 new McIntosh components - MCD201, C45 and MC252.

I was close, my crystal ball had a small spot on it which made me mistake 2 MC275 for MA2275. :huge:

Bought a 2105 and MX113 brand new. Took the 113 back a couple of weeks later and got the C28 and MR77. BIG improvement. Even though I was a very young adult, the Mac dealer treated me with respect and that forged a bond with the company to this day.

The same MA6100 I use today, got it used in 73 I think. Its been around the world with me while in the Navy for 20 years. Only minor service required in all these years. Have WOWed people from Chicago to Tokyo.:thmbsp:

Waited over 34 years to aquire a 1900 receiver.

That was followed by a MR74 tuner.

Which was followed by a MC7200 amp.

It was replaced with a MC252.

Which was joined with a MCD201.

Was spoiled by the sound of my all tube Fisher 800c receiver and
wanted to infuse life into my seemingly lifeless SS system... I chose my
McIntosh mx 110 all tube tuner preamp on features as nothing on
the new tube preamp market came close to offering what my mx 110
came with. So I located and purchased mine through Audio Refurbishers
came with 1 year warranty...Mine arrived in as close to pristine as one
could hope for and with the added touch of having been refurbed by
one Terry DeWick..!! :tresbon:

Indeed the mx 110 has infused life back into my system... very nice
soundstage improvements.. music is much more realistic and with time
a replacement amp for my Denon POA 2200 will come to pass..
