Good day subwoofer afficianados,
I have an old Monitor Audio subwoofer who's guts I want to transfer into a custom enclosure of the same volume but with modified dimensions to better fit the new location in the room. Building the enclosure gives me the opportunity to overcome the shortcomings induced by mass market constrictions, so I seek advice:
1. One of the two woofers in the original enclosure is downfiring with nothing more than one inch rubber feet keeping it up off the (Carpeted) ground. Is this some potential wasted energy that could be corrected by having both woofers mounted front firing side by side?

Or

2. Would I benefit by elevating the bottom baffle within the enclosure, inverting the second woofer and reversing it's polarity like the M&K push/pull subwoofers? I'm a bit Leary on this option as I'm not sure about it with my ported enclosure when compared to the sealed M&K.

What do you think?

Sorry Porkloin, I lost this thread when I seen it on my phone Saturday and was wanting to respond when I got home. Was going to suggest same as wasclywabbit above, only going to suggest if you have a stone counter top company near you perhaps they'll give you a stone slab scrap, I know .... one did for me years ago when I had a down firing Audio Source sub facing the carpet. You might look up some nice tile floor medallions at Home Depot. I wouldn't go too expensive, as most of it would be covered up anyway. What's the length and width of said custom enclosure you might be building?
